Prolonging the service life of continuous casting tundish can shorten the replacement time of tundish, reduce the gas consumption of baking ladle, reduce the frequency of site masonry construction, reduce the reconnection waste of continuous casting billet, improve the pass rate of casting billet, and then effectively reduce the consumption of resistant materials per ton steel of tundish and improve the purity of molten steel.
In recent years, the service life of continuous casting billet tundish has exceeded 170 hours. But how to improve the service time of slab tundish and prolong the service life of slab continuous casting tundish is always the direction of the industry.
In order to prolong the life of tundish, United Ronda conducted on-site inspection of a certain machine's first class slab continuous casting tundish, analyzed and discussed the main reasons for the serious erosion of resistant materials in each part, finally determined the technological measures, optimized and adjusted the materials and design structures of slag line dry material, slag retaining wall, flow stabilizer, stopper and water nozzle respectively.
The 180-hour continuous casting test was carried out in the continuous casting area, and the actual casting time was 181 hours. A total of 289 bags of 45# and 50# high carbon steel molten steel were cast, the casting section size was 250mm×2100mm, the average pulling speed was 0.8 meters per minute, the steel throughput was 35019 tons, and the total length of the casting billet was 8517.8 meters. After the test package was rolled off the line and turned over, the erosion results measured by technicians found that dry material, slag retaining wall, current stabilizer and other products were used normally, without obvious contour deformation, perforation, cracking and other phenomena; There was no abnormality in the whole flow control of the stopper, no obvious erosion occurred in the vertical length, and the erosion of the rod head, rod body and slag line was normal. There is no abnormality in the whole application of the upper inlet and no obvious expanding phenomenon. No abnormal temperature was found during continuous pouring.
The practice shows that the service life of slab tundish can be extended to more than 180 hours by adjusting and improving the resistant material of main parts of tundish and applying reasonable continuous pouring technology, which has set a new record. This not only helps to improve the production operation rate, but also has significance for energy saving and consumption reduction in continuous casting production.
